Ole Hagen was born in Norway. He lives and works in London.

"My artistic project has been occupied with exposing the driving forces of subjective activity where this activity negotiates the life-room of the individual. The junction between internal and external worlds might be the product of a dualistic imagination; yet, it has always constituted a zone
for poetic narratives."

The unspoken musings of the mind may reflect the hidden preoccupations of the individual. In his investigation of the internal monologue, Ole makes videos which traverse different narrative forms from the documentary to the fairy tale.'Fantastic!' includes two videos by Ole: 'Stone' (2002) and 'Tale' (2002). In these works we encounter the private monologue of a fictitious subject, externalised. The speaking voice addresses inanimate objects or an imaginary other. In doing so it reflects the individual's attempt to inscribe himself in the world.

Ole says "the 'Fantastic'! show is a particularly welcome occasion to show some of my more narrative pieces in a setting that does not isolate the field of action to the screen. One of the pieces takes place in the dark labyrinth of a cave. I hope that the atmosphere of the cave and the echo of the voice will resonate with the halls and vaults of the church crypt."
Ole completed an MA at Chelsea in 1996. He has exhibited widely in London and Europe, and is currently participating in 'Don't Fight it!' at Gasworks.
